Membership Benefits

As well as having access to a wealth of knowledge from other society members, being a member gives you access to the following.

Telescopes

We have a pair of 150mm diameter Dobsonian telescopes that we use at outreach events but members can also borrow them to find their way around the night sky.

Solar Telescope

Not all astronomy takes place at night, you can learn a lot by looking at our own nearest star. So why not borrow the society solar scope for a couple of weeks and study our sun in safety?

Canon 600D DSLR Camera, Vixen Polarie Star Tracker & Tripod

Astrophotography need not involve complex hardware setup. This simple device mounts to a conventional camera tripod to ensure smooth tracking of the sky for long exposures. We supply you the tripod, camera and remote control. The only thing we can't guarantee is a clear sky!

Library

The library which is available at all meetings includes books and DVD's to cater for all abilities.  Feel free to to browse and sign out any publication for as long as you want  (Obviously if the item you have on loan is in high demand you may need to return it sooner).

All the above items of kit and many more can be borrowed through the society library or by contacting a Committee member.
